There are many ways to apply vintage effects on pictures and the results can vary from user to user. If you have difficulties finding the perfect balance of colors, to create an impressive retro look, then you should try Vintager. With this simple and lightweight application, you can give your photos a believable vintage look. The best part is that it doesn't take more than a few clicks to apply such effects on a large number of pictures.

Vintager is distributed as a freeware application and it can be used on any modern Windows platform. It can be installed in less than a minute, without making any complex settings along the way. The application's hardware requirements are modest and you don't have to install any prerequisite tools.

You can load one or more images by selecting them on a standard Open dialog or by dragging and dropping the files on the application's user interface. The pictures themselves are displayed in a preview area, on the left half of the window and you can apply effects or make other adjustments on the right half. The available effects and adjustment options can be found on separate tabs and you can see how they affect the currently displayed picture, in the preview area, in real time.

The application provides a large number of predefined vintage effects and you only need to select one to apply it. They are displayed as thumbnails, so you can know how they look, without applying them one by one. To emphasize the vintage effect, you can also add a depth of field effect and choose from various retro-looking frames.

Besides making a picture look older, you can also make a few transformations, like cropping the picture, flipping or rotating it. Additionally, the application allows you to adjust the brightness and contrast levels and resize the images. When you are done applying effects and adjusting your pictures, you may click an Apply button, in the lower right corner of the interface, to change your settings. Also, you can choose to save the edited pictures separately or overwrite the originals.
